The army chief recently announced that the army is considering a new scheme for officers termed 'Tour of Duty' (TOD). The scheme envisages three years' service, with no extension.

The 2022 National Defense Authorization Act allows Guard and Reserve members to use personal devices to search and apply for active-duty jobs on the Tour of Duty online job board.
