Having your own kingdom is hard mode, you want to play as a free man for a bit early game to get money up then play as a vassal to get relationships and land imo having your own kingdom is end game content ... Step 4 - Disband the 3 clan parties. You have a massive garrison. Companions already are vassals but you need to give them their own party to act like vassals. You have to do the Main Quest of finding the 10 Nobles and assembling the Banner. There's a couple things you need to do first. 1 is make sure you have a govener lined up (must be same faction) because the town is going to be in rough shape after the siege. 2 is make friends with all surrounding factions. 3 is set up caravans ASAP to help your town grow. Here's what I did.
