Gender absolutely is a social construct. Like, everything about how we perceive gender is based on socially constructed ideas of how “men” and “women” differ. Non-binary identities inherently push against the socially constructed gender norms. Non-binary is not a third gender, it is inherently a rejection of the system of gender we live in.
