The London Transport Museum is an often-overlooked jewel in the heart of London. Travel through three stories and over 200 years of history covering the amazing evolution of public transport in London, as well as the social history, engineering, architecture and design that grew and changed alongside it.

Biography. Born in London, Horace Taylor studied at the Camden School of Art, the Royal Academy Schools in London and the Royal Academy, Munich. A painter and poster and stage designer, he worked as a cartoonist for the Manchester Guardian but from 1922 was engaged almost entirely on commercial art. (Green 1990) When Frank Pick, the first Chief Executive of London Transport, first took charge of the Underground’s publicity in 1908, he revolutionised poster design. Pick believed that ‘there is room in posters for all styles’ and in the 1920s, he began to commission more adventurous posters. This legacy established London Transport as a leading ...
